Ritz-Carlton Dubai to partner with GCAF to erect a vertical farm

The farm is located close to the Ritz-Carlton’s private beach. Moreover, this hyper-local on-site hydroponic farm is specially erected to grow produce that are used in beverages and food offerings inside the hotel’s eateries.

The farm is 40 metres in size and harvests up to 10 Kgs of produce a day. Quite impressive! Also there is no need for soil and the amount of water which is used to grow crops and its a lot less than needed for traditional farming techniques.

Not only it is beneficial that the herbs can be picked on site before being used on the Ritz -Carlton’s menus (however, you cannot get much fresher than that), hence it means that the carbon footprint is significantly lowered as the herbs and salad items don’t have to be imported from other countries.
